Symphonie dramatique
Cas Public
Symphonie dramatique revisits the mythical couple of Romeo and Juliet.
This adaptation, designed for audiences aged ten and over, uses William Shakespeare's romantic masterpiece as a pretext to evoke seduction, desire, the unleashing of passions and death. In a highly contemporary vision, the company's eight dancers deliver a vibrant tribute to the original story, with poetry tinged with impetuosity and contagious energy. The conflicts and inner turmoil here are magnificently rendered by dance and music, and finding a particular resonance. Symphonie dramatique also summons Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Gounod and many others on the soundtrack concocted by composer and sampler Martin Tétreault, who boldly hijacks the musical scores inspired by this tragedy. An ode to what's impossible and to the struggle to fulfill one's destiny, this powerful, sober piece sheds new light on the most famous love story of all time.
