Hocus Pocus
Compagnie Philippe Saire
From the clouds to the depths of the ocean, follow the adventures of two illusionist dancers. A poetic coming-of-age story imagined by choreographer Philippe Saire, a pioneer of Swiss contemporary dance.
Two horizontal neon lights float in the darkness, defining a mysterious, abstract frame where bodies, faces and props appear and disappear as if by magic. Abracadabra! We start to lose our bearings. Happy and playful, Lucas and Claus, two characters inspired by Agota Kristof’s Grand cahier, lose and find themselves again in a thousand and one adventures set to the dreamlike music of Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt. A contortionist’s escape from a spider’s web aboard a wacky flying machine, a tumble through the clouds, undersea voyages, encounters with fantastic aquatic creatures… A surreal universe to astonish and delight young and old alike; a tour de force of ingenuity.
