The dance label and the structure for choreographers will accompany Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep for the presentation of his latest work, co-produced by the FTA and Agora de la danse.
Inspired by the boundless energy of his street dancer friend Walid Hammani, choreographer Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep has crafted a solo tailor-made for him. Millepertuis is a powerful tribute to surrendering oneself — an exuberant journey where physical prowess lays bare vulnerability, leading to an openness to being seen and perceived differently. Known as Promo and Waldo, the duo invites audiences to a virtuosic evening where euphoric popping and electro music gradually give way to a radiant gentleness.
Rochon-Prom Tep — an artistic jack-of-all-trades fluent in both breaking and contemporary dance — skillfully blends intimate sensitivity with electrifying physicality to create generous, inviting works. The 2022 recipient of the Jacqueline-Lemieux Prize returns this year with a tribute to friendship and vulnerability, dressed in flamboyant costumes, infectious music, and upbeat lighting.
This collaboration between CAPAS and lorganisme reflects both organizations’ ongoing commitment to supporting demanding artistic processes. CAPAS expresses its desire to champion distinctive approaches by supporting artists from all corners of the choreographic landscape. Just like our recent collaboration with Parbleux around the work of Thea Patterson, this new partnership with lorganisme is rooted in an expanded vision of artistic support — one that values diverse expertise, the circulation of ideas, and the interconnection of networks.
Driven by a shared commitment to a meaningful, physical, and socially engaged dance, CAPAS and lorganisme are working together to reimagine mechanisms of support and development. By combining their complementary approaches, they are pooling resources: lorganisme is acting as the delegated producer, while CAPAS is providing support for touring and distribution. This collaboration represents a strong shared commitment to ambitious artistic projects and singular choreographic visions.
On the occasion of the FTA, Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep will be able to count on the support of the CAPAS team, whose expertise in touring and deep knowledge of the field will help amplify the reach of his work.
