Emanuel Gat was born in Israel in 1969. His first encounter with dance was during a workshop with choreographer Nir Ben Gal. He then joined the Liat Dror Nir Ben Gal company, with whom he toured internationally. In 1994, he began working as a freelance choreographer. Ten years later, he founded his own company, Emanuel Gat Dance, at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv, after receiving the Rosemblum Prize in 2003 and the Landau Prize in 2004.

Emanuel Gat is regularly invited to create for or transmit works to prestigious companies such as Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, Ballet National de Marseille, Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, Sydney Dance Company, ICK Amsterdam, Tanztheater Bremen, Candoco Dance Company, Los Angeles Dance Project, Royal Swedish Ballet, Cedar Lake and Ballet British Columbia. Emanuel Gat also creates and performs works for educational institutions such as the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, the CNSMD in Lyon, the ZZT in Cologne, the Ballet Junior de Genève and the Disability on Stage program.

In addition to the soundtracks he creates for many of them, Emanuel also designs the lighting and scenography for all his pieces. These elements become central in the overall work, dialoguing with his evolving choreographic process.
