From the start, Yvann Alexandre's creative drive has stemmed from human encounters. He begins his processes with transmission, then moves on to writing a work. He is a choreographer who looks at the world through  dance, which maps precisely the echo of the world within him. With attention, delicacy, his work absorbs fleeting fluctuations and coincidences. Tomorrow is above all a choreography that is yet to be born. With a particular attachment to movement writing, and a fidelity to what a line evokes, he has established himself as a leader of abstract dance. His precise gestures are teeming with detail, organized like intimate calligraphy.

His style, based on a physical score with his own personal notation, allows him to free himself from his own codes, in favor of direct interaction with the performers.

Born in La Roche-Sur-Yon in 1976, Yvann Alexandre learns dance at the local community centre and conservatory, as well as La Rochelle's conservatory. He continues his training in Montpellier with Epsedanse, and at the same time attends the CCN de Montpellier, newly directed by Mathilde Monnier. At the age of sixteen, he created his first pieces, and founded his own company in 1993 in Montpellier. He created his first work for the Hivernales d'Avignon and Montpellier Danse.

In addition to his creations, presented on numerous prestigious stages and festivals in France and abroad, he is also a guest at the Conservatoires National Supérieurs de Paris and Lyon, in Quebec and in Montreal, at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Nancy and at the Nordwest Tanzcompagnie in Germany.

Alongside his creative work, he is also Artistic Director of the Théâtre Francine Vasse in Nantes, with an innovative project that starts with transmission and ends with the work itself: Les Laboratoires Vivants. Yvann Alexandre has been SACD's Managing Director for dance since 2023.
