System D/Dominique Porte
Her company's works have been presented locally and internationally. By wanting to assert her own “Système D”, which refers as much to the initial of her first name as to the different systems that she develops in her choreographic ideas, she asserts her creative spirit which sort things out, adapts to the world and constantly invents, becoming artistic director of her company in 1999: Système D/Dominique Porte. Her surprising creative elation combines, throughout the works, with the talent of recognized collaborators and composers as well as the support of national and international co-producers.
Dominique Porte
Established in Montreal since 1989, Dominique Porte develops her work as choreographer by pushing the limits of expression through the body's own music. First recognized as a virtuoso performer within the Marie Chouinard Company, choreographers William Douglas, José Navas and Kim Itoh will also mark her career. Imbued with an organic, animal and sensory approach as well as architectural work in form, it is from her experience as a performer that her own choreographic identity will be born. Fascinated by nature and human condition, Dominique Porte mainly explores, throughout her work, themes linked to communication, relationships, identity and perception through our senses.
